Proven Protection for Catheter Care

NutriLock™ is an antimicrobial catheter lock solution containing 2% taurolidine. Approved for use in all central venous catheters (CVCs) and vascular access devices (VADs), it is particularly suited for patients receiving parenteral nutrition. Unlike other lock solutions, NutriLock™ is free from citrate and heparin, making it appropriate for patients who do not require anticoagulants for their central lines.

Taurolidine has been shown to significantly reduce the incidence of catheter-related bloodstream infections (CRBSIs) and inhibit biofilm formation, supporting safer, long-term catheter use in both hospital and home care settings.

Effective Infection Prevention

NutriLock™ contains 2% taurolidine, an antimicrobial agent with proven efficacy against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, as well as fungi including Candida. It has been shown to reduce catheter-related bloodstream infections (CRBSIs), particularly in patients receiving long-term parenteral nutrition.

The systematic application of NutriLock™ in critically ill patients reduces the incidence of CRBSI in ICUs. NutriLock™ delivers the same taurolidine-based protection, without the use of anticoagulants.

Although citrate- and heparin-free, NutriLock™ supports catheter patency by preventing biofilm-related occlusion and minimising microbial buildup within the catheter lumen.

Prevention of Biofilm Formation and Eradication

Taurolidine actively prevents the formation of microbial biofilm and has demonstrated effectiveness in disrupting established biofilms, reducing the risk of persistent infection in central venous access devices.

Reduced Risk of Complications

NutriLock™ contains no antibiotics which avoids the risk of antimicrobial resistance, and its safety profile supports long-term use in both hospital and home settings.

It is also ideal for patients with Heparin-Induced-Thrombocytopenia (HIT).
